Honolua Bay

Honolua Map
  • Overall Conditions: Small surf. Calm to moderate winds. Inside the bay should be nice.
  • Surf: 1-3ft.
  • Weather: Similar to Upper West Bays
  • Notes: Rocky shoreline sheltered bay. Use the Honolua Lookout before the bay to check conditions.  The water should be blue and you should be able to see the reef.  If the water looks “milky” or green the snorkeling will not be good.  If there are surfers on the north side of the bay the snorkeling conditions are probably poor or even dangerous.  If it has been raining the river empties brown, muddy water into the bay and you should definitely stay out of the water.

Ka'anapali Beach

Sheraton Black Rock, Airport-Kahekili Beach
  • Overall Conditions: Small surf. Calm winds right now. Don’t miss it.
  • Webcam: Whaler Condos Sheraton
  • Surf: 1-2 ft.
  • Weather: Isolated showers after noon. Sunny, with a high near 82. Breezy, with an east northeast wind 10 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Notes: Don’t snorkel directly under Black Rock, you don’t want to get jumped on. Turtles as usual. Don’t forget they are protected so give them space but enjoy. If you venture around Black Rock stay close to shore. Watch for surge along the rocks.

Olowalu Mile Marker 14

Black Rock, Kahekili-Airport Beach
  • Overall Conditions: Calm winds in this area. Small surf. Should be pretty nice there today.
  • Weather: Sunny, with a high near 81. Breezy, with a northeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
  • Notes: Give the turtles some space and don’t get your car stuck in the sand.  There is a sand channel that goes through the reef across the highway from the Mile Marker 14 post that is the easiest place to swim out.
