Upper Westside Protected Bays

Napili, Kapalua, Honolua
  • Strong winds, moderate surf as a north swell has picked. The north ends of the bays should also offer some shelter from the winds. Honolua Bay will be the most sheltered area however waves may be a factor. Decreased water clarity.

  • Surf 3-4 ft.
  • Conditions may vary amongst the different bays.
  • Isolated showers before noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. Very windy, with an east wind 29 to 31 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sheraton Black Rock, Airport-Kahekili Beach
  • Blustery winds, small surf. Inside black rock should be mostly sheltered from the wind. Watch for surge along the rocks. Be aware of the wind if you venture around the backside of Black Rock. Looking relatively calm right now. Get out early as the wind may fill in as the day progresses.

  • Surf 2-3ft.
  • Turtles as usual. Don’t forget they are protected so give them space but enjoy.
  • ENE wind 21 to 24 kt, with gusts as high as 31 kt. Sunny. . Waves 1 ft or less.

  • Small surf, watch for strong winds. Water clarity should be good.
  • Don’t get your car stuck in the sand and be sure to park completely off the highway!
  • Surf 1-2ft.
  • Turtles! They are protected so give them space but enjoy.
  • ENE wind 14 to 24 kt, with gusts as high as 31 kt. Sunny. . Waves 1 ft or less.

  • Smaller surf than past few days, blustery winds. As usual get out early before the winds fill in down south. Another nice day in South Maui. Decreased water clarity at the beach locations however it should be improved over the past few days. Ahihi Kinau should be nice.
