Honolua Bay

Honolua Map
  • Overall Conditions Honolua bay is looking good.  Honolua is pretty protected from the ENE afternoon trade winds.  Use the lookout before the bay to double check conditions.
  • Surf: 0-1.
  • Weather:
  • Isolated showers before noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Breezy, with an east northeast wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Notes: Rocky shoreline sheltered bay. Use the Honolua Lookout before the bay to check conditions.  The water should be blue and you should be able to see the reef.  If the water looks “milky” or green the snorkeling will not be good.  If there are surfers on the north side of the bay the snorkeling conditions are probably poor or even dangerous.  If it has been raining the river empties brown, muddy water into the bay and you should definitely not get in the water.

Ka'anapali Beach

Sheraton Black Rock, Airport-Kahekili Beach
  • Overall Conditions:  Kaanapali Beach is looking nice and calm this morning. Winds will pick up in the afternoon, making conditions poorer.  The south swell is dying out so snorkeling should be good until Friday when we get another south swell that may impact Kaanapali.
  • Webcam: Whaler Condo. Sheraton.
  • Surf: 0-2 ft.
  • Weather:
Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. Breezy, with an east northeast wind 9 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
  • Notes: Don’t snorkel directly under Black Rock, you don’t want to get jumped on. Turtles as usual. Don’t forget they are protected so give them space but enjoy. If you venture around Black Rock stay close to shore. Watch for surge along the rocks.

Olowalu Mile Marker 14

Black Rock, Kahekili-Airport Beach
  • Overall Conditions:  The south swell is dying out but Olowalu needs a day or two for water clarity to improve. There are better places to snorkel today.
  • Weather: Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Breezy, with a north northeast wind 9 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph
  • Surf: 1-3 ft.
  • Notes: Give the turtles some space and don’t get your car stuck in the sand.  There is a sand channel that goes through the reef across the highway from the Mile Mark 14 post that is the easiest place to swim out.

  • Surf: 1-3 ft.
  • Weather: Increasing clouds, with a high near 89. Calm wind becoming east northeast 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.
  • Notes: Winds may fill in later, always best to get out early.
