Honolua Bay

Honolua Map
  • Overall Conditions: Similar to the upper Bays with strong winds and some rain due to the tropical storm. Inside the bay may be calm as the surf is small, however if in doubt don’t go out.
  • Surf: 1-2ft.
  • Weather: Showers. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 80. Very windy, with an east wind 28 to 32 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
  • Notes: Rocky shoreline sheltered bay. Use the Honolua Lookout before the bay to check conditions.  The water should be blue and you should be able to see the reef.  If the water looks “milky” or green the snorkeling will not be good.  If there are surfers on the north side of the bay the snorkeling conditions are probably poor or even dangerous.  If it has been raining the river empties brown, muddy water into the bay and you should definitely stay out of the water.
