Upper Westside Protected Bays

Napili, Kapalua, Honolua
  • High surf north facing shores. Light winds. Watch for waves. If in doubt go south to snorkel.
  • Surf 9-11ft around the North side.
  • Conditions may vary amongst the different bays but should be relatively consistent.
  • Scattered showers before noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Breezy, with an east northeast wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Ka'anapali Beach

Sheraton Black Rock, Airport-Kahekili Beach
  • High surf on the up north which will wrap around to Kaanapali. Light winds make for a nice time on the beach. If you go out stay away from the shoreline. Go south for calmer conditions.
  • Christmas break but the crowds are still small.
  • Surf 2-4ft
  • Turtles as usual. Don’t forget they are protected so give them space but enjoy.
  • Scattered showers between 8am and noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. East northeast wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Black Rock, Kahekili-Airport Beach
  • Best spot close to West Maui. High surf up north. Calm conditions.
  • Don’t get your car stuck in the sand!
  • Small surf 1-3ft.
  • Turtles! They are protected so give them space but enjoy.
  • Scattered showers between 8am and noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. East northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
