We offer 3 different types of surfboard rentals. Our epoxy longboards are perfect for the beginning surfer. They are so big, they can practically catch the wave for you. You just need to be balanced and courageous enough to jump up and ride it! Our staff will help you choose the board length that is right for your height, weight, and experience level. They will also point you to the beginning surf spots. These “bunny slope” surf breaks are sandy, so you needn’t worry about scraping yourself on coral while you learn how to maneuver with the water and the board. You can practice all you want in just the right patch of ocean!
In terms of length, we have 8’2, 9’2, and 10’2 epoxy longboards. If this is your first time trying a surfboard, ask about our soft top longboards. As their name suggests, they are softer than regular boards. In addition, their tops are completely coated, which makes for an easier grip. (Normally, you spread sticky wax on part of your board, to give your feet something to hang onto when you are riding it.)
If you are an experienced surfer, we have lightweight fiberglass long and short boards to get you to the lineup. These surfboard rentals are made on Maui by shaper Charlie Smith and glasser Dave Gott. Available lengths in fiberglass are 6’2, 6’4, 8’6, and 9’2. If you don’t have a favorite break picked out already, our agents can let you know what’s going on out there – and where.
As you consider your surfboard rentals, you may be wondering about logistics. When you leave the shop, it might be fun to act out that iconic “Endless Summer” poster and carry your surfboard on your head, but how, exactly, would you bring your board to the beach? No worries – we’ve got you covered! First, we’ll help you place the board on top of your car, with pads to protect the paint. Then, we’ll tie it down with straps that run through the car doorways. We’ve been handling surfboard rentals since the 1980s, so this sort of thing is old hat for us!
