Directions and Parking: From Kona Town, head south on Alii Drive. In 5.6 miles, the road begins to curve left as you approach the Keauhou Shopping Center. Stay right to keep on Alii Drive, and at the intersection, take the next right onto Kamehameha III Road. Drive half a mile down until the cul-de-sac at the end. You can park there or on the side of the road. (Do not park in the parking lot to the left – it is used by a tour company.) Keauhou Beach Park is now on your right! Just head down the little asphalt path, and you’re there.

Keauhou Beach Park provides a small grassy area for entertaining with restrooms, outdoor showers, a picnic table, and a grill. You can play in two types of sand here. There is a little black sand beach at the water's edge, and white sand volleyball courts up the hill a bit! You can also rent kayaks nearby, but Keauhou Beach Park is not a Kona snorkeling or swimming spot. A boat ramp leading into the turquoise water launches tour boats, kayaks, paddleboards, and outrigger canoes. One can also fish from the pier, and all this traffic makes the water unsafe for swimmers. Palm trees, hibiscus plants, and kiawe dot the park. You will also see the canoe house for the Keauhou Canoe Club (as well as their canoes - if they're not out paddling, of course!).
