Beach Location: The intersection of Honoapiilani Highway and Leialii Parkway, just across from the Lahaina Civic Center and Post Office, Lahaina, HI 96761

Parking: This recreational area has two entrances and two parking lots. Both are found on the ocean side of Honoapiilani Highway (Hwy 30), near its intersection with Leialii Parkway. If you plan to snorkel, park at the south end, just across the highway from the post office and Civic Center. You will be closer to the water there. If you will be spending time on the lawns and beneath the trees at Wahikuli Wayside, using the picnic tables and BBQs, park in the north lot.
If you have a hankering to see sea turtles on Maui, Wahikuli Wayside is the west side’s best spot! This beach park is covered in green lawn and handy amenities – the sandy part is small. Once you get into the water, though, you are likely to be amazed. Turtles are usually swimming all over the place! There are so many every time we go, we don’t even have to get wet to enjoy their reptilian presence – we can see them feeding while we’re standing on the shore!
Since we’re on the subject of feeding, you should know that you can follow the turtles’ lead when visiting Wahikuli Wayside. There are grills, picnic tables, and trash cans for your convenience. (We’re not sure if you’d like the limu clinging to the rocks, however. You may want to bring your own favorite foods.) The parking at Wahikuli is usually uncrowded, and the park is easy to find. It is literally on the side of the highway!

Wahikuli Wayside Park is located directly between Lahaina and Kaanapali, right off the Honoapiilani Highway (Hwy 30). Calm waters make for good swimming, and you will find BBQ and picnic facilities readily available. You are highly likely to see Hawaiian green sea turtles at this site.
