Launiupoko Beach Park is a great one for families! The little ones (and their caretakers) will absolutely love the ocean wading pool. Its depth ranges from a few inches to two feet or so, and the water is constantly being refreshed by ocean waves. The wave sets at this beach park are often long lasting and steady – just perfect for getting familiar with your surfboard or paddleboard. Launiupoko Beach also boasts all the facilities you might need, including outdoor showers to wash the sand and salt water from you and your board.

If you need to rent surf boards, we have them available for you, along with surf shirts (rashguards) and board shorts. This surf spot is just outside Lahaina Town, and Lahaina Town is home to two Boss Frog’s!

This beach park can be busy, especially when there is a swell in. If that is the case, you will love spending time at the picnic tables or along the walking paths, watching the advanced surfers ride.

Regardless of the size of the waves when you visit, Launuipoko is not a good snorkeling site. There is no reef to speak of, so there is not much life to see. Don’t be surprised, though, if you see a turtle pop up beside your board. It’s always a special moment when that happens. Enjoy!

Launiupoko is a great family beach, especially if any of you are learning how to surf or paddle board!  The beach generally hosts regular sets of gentle waves that are good for beginners, and for those without boards, there is a natural wading pool that starts out below your ankles.  You'll also find restrooms, picnic tables, BBQs, lots of shade, and lovely walking paths winding between the lawn and the stones lining the shore.
