Honolua Bay

Honolua Map
  • Overall Conditions: Calm winds. Small surf. Inside the bay should be pretty nice.
  • Surf: 1-3 ft.
  • Weather: Similar to North Bays
  • Notes: Rocky shoreline sheltered bay. Use the Honolua Lookout before the bay to check conditions.  The water should be blue and you should be able to see the reef.  If the water looks “milky” or green the snorkeling will not be good.  If there are surfers on the north side of the bay the snorkeling conditions are probably poor or even dangerous.  If it has been raining the river empties brown, muddy water into the bay and you should definitely stay out of the water.

Ka'anapali Beach

Sheraton Black Rock, Airport-Kahekili Beach
  • Overall Conditions: Calm winds. Small surf. Looks very nice today.
  • Webcam: Whaler Condos Sheraton
  • Surf: 1-3 ft.
  • Weather: Variable winds 5 kt or less. Sunny.
  • Notes: Don’t snorkel directly under Black Rock, you don’t want to get jumped on. Turtles as usual. Don’t forget they are protected so give them space but enjoy. If you venture around Black Rock stay close to shore. Watch for surge along the rocks.

Olowalu Mile Marker 14

Black Rock, Kahekili-Airport Beach
  • Overall Conditions: Similar to the past few days. Small surf. Calm winds. Should be pretty nice here today.
  • Weather: N wind 7 to 15 kt, with gusts as high as 22 kt. Sunny.
  • Notes: Give the turtles some space and don’t get your car stuck in the sand.  There is a sand channel that goes through the reef across the highway from the Mile Marker 14 post that is the easiest place to swim out.

  • Overall Conditions: Calm winds. Surf has increased a bit. Watch for small shore break, surge along the shore line and decreased water clarity at the beach locations. Overall it still looks pretty nice.
  • Webcams: Kihei Cove Park, Sugar Beach, Kalama Park, Grand Wailea, Mana Kai, Humpback Sanctuary Building, Hale Pau Hana
  • Surf: 1-2 ft.
  • Weather: Sunny, with a high near 81. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.
  • Notes: Beach locations tend to be stirred up more than the south most locations. It’s best to get out early as the winds can significantly affect this area in the afternoon.
