Honolua Bay

Honolua Map
  • Overall Conditions: Similar to yesterday. Calm this morning with winds increasing in the afternoon.  Conditions should be pretty good, with little runoff and minimal swell.  The inside of the bay stays pretty protected from the afternoon winds.  If the water is brown don’t go down.
  • Surf: 0-1 ft.
  • Weather: Scattered showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. Breezy, with an east northeast wind 20 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
  • Notes: Rocky shoreline sheltered bay. Use the Honolua Lookout before the bay to check conditions.  The water should be blue and you should be able to see the reef.  If the water looks “milky” or green the snorkeling will not be good.  If there are surfers on the north side of the bay the snorkeling conditions are probably poor or even dangerous.  If it has been raining the river empties brown, muddy water into the bay and you should definitely stay out of the water.

Ka'anapali Beach

Sheraton Black Rock, Airport-Kahekili Beach
  • Overall Conditions: Similar to yesterday. Looking nice. Breezy winds with small surf.
  • Webcam: Whaler Condos Sheraton Airport Beach
  • Surf: 0-1 ft.
  • Weather: Sunny, with a high near 82. Breezy, with an east northeast wind 13 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.
  • Notes: Don’t snorkel directly under Black Rock, you don’t want to get jumped on. Turtles as usual. Don’t forget they are protected so give them space but enjoy. If you venture around Black Rock stay close to shore. Watch for surge along the rocks.

Olowalu Mile Marker 14

Black Rock, Kahekili-Airport Beach
  • Overall Conditions: We have a break from south swells for a few days so the water clarity should be great.  The offshore winds help keep the water clean here.
  • Weather: Isolated showers before noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Windy, with a northeast wind 15 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Notes: Give the turtles some space and don’t get your car stuck in the sand.  There is a sand channel that goes through the reef across the highway from the Mile Marker 14 post that is the easiest place to swim out.
