Honolua Bay

Honolua Map
  • Overall Conditions: Calm winds. Small wave action. looks like a super nice day at the bay.
  • Surf: 0-2ft.
  • Weather: E wind 15 to 19 kt. Isolated showers before noon.
  • Notes: Rocky shoreline sheltered bay. Use the Honolua Lookout before the bay to check conditions.  The water should be blue and you should be able to see the reef.  If the water looks “milky” or green the snorkeling will not be good.  If there are surfers on the north side of the bay the snorkeling conditions are probably poor or even dangerous.  If it has been raining the river empties brown, muddy water into the bay and you should definitely stay out of the water.

Olowalu Mile Marker 14

Black Rock, Kahekili-Airport Beach
  • Overall Conditions:  Calm winds. Small surf. Should be pretty nice here today.
  • Weather: Variable winds less than 5 kt becoming ENE 11 to 16 kt in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 22 kt.
  • Notes: Give the turtles some space and don’t get your car stuck in the sand.  There is a sand channel that goes through the reef across the highway from the Mile Marker 14 post that is the easiest place to swim out.
