Honolua Bay

Honolua Map
  • Overall Conditions: Calm winds. Small surf. Should be really nice here today.
  • Surf: 1-2ft.
  • Weather: Similar to Upper West Bays
  • Notes: Rocky shoreline sheltered bay. Use the Honolua Lookout before the bay to check conditions.  The water should be blue and you should be able to see the reef.  If the water looks “milky” or green the snorkeling will not be good.  If there are surfers on the north side of the bay the snorkeling conditions are probably poor or even dangerous.  If it has been raining the river empties brown, muddy water into the bay and you should definitely stay out of the water.

Olowalu Mile Marker 14

Black Rock, Kahekili-Airport Beach
  • Overall Conditions: Similar to the past few days. Calm winds. Small surf. Water clarity may be decreased but it should be pretty calm.
  • Weather: Sunny, with a high near 81. Breezy, with a northeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
  • Notes: Give the turtles some space and don’t get your car stuck in the sand.  There is a sand channel that goes through the reef across the highway from the Mile Marker 14 post that is the easiest place to swim out.
