Honolua Bay

Honolua Map
  • Overall Conditions: Some waves coming in to the bay. Be careful along the rocks. As long as it doesn’t rain too much the clarity looks ok.
  • Surf: 1-3ft.
  • Weather: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Breezy, with an east wind 14 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Notes: Rocky shoreline sheltered bay. Use the Honolua Lookout before the bay to check conditions.  The water should be blue and you should be able to see the reef.  If the water looks “milky” or green the snorkeling will not be good.  If there are surfers on the north side of the bay the snorkeling conditions are probably poor or even dangerous.  If it has been raining the river empties brown, muddy water into the bay and you should definitely stay out of the water.

Ka'anapali Beach

Sheraton Black Rock, Airport-Kahekili Beach
  • Overall Conditions: Looks calm at Airport Beach this morning. Should see a little shore break later. Black Rock should be good all day.
  • Webcam: Whaler Condos Sheraton
  • Surf: 2-3 ft.
  • Weather: Scattered showers, mainly after 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Notes: Don’t snorkel directly under Black Rock, you don’t want to get jumped on. Turtles as usual. Don’t forget they are protected so give them space but enjoy. If you venture around Black Rock stay close to shore. Watch for surge along the rocks.

Olowalu Mile Marker 14

Black Rock, Kahekili-Airport Beach
  • Overall Conditions: Calmer winds in this area and surf is low. Looks like a nice day again in this area.
  • Weather: Isolated showers after 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Notes: Give the turtles some space and don’t get your car stuck in the sand.  There is a sand channel that goes through the reef across the highway from the Mile Marker 14 post that is the easiest place to swim out.
