Honolua Bay

Honolua Map
  • Overall Conditions: Similar to yesterday. Some small to moderate waves coming in closer to the point. Inside the bay along the right to pretty good.
  • Surf: 1-2ft.
  • Weather: Similar to Upper West Bays
  • Notes: Rocky shoreline sheltered bay. Use the Honolua Lookout before the bay to check conditions.  The water should be blue and you should be able to see the reef.  If the water looks “milky” or green the snorkeling will not be good.  If there are surfers on the north side of the bay the snorkeling conditions are probably poor or even dangerous.  If it has been raining the river empties brown, muddy water into the bay and you should definitely stay out of the water.

Ka'anapali Beach

Sheraton Black Rock, Airport-Kahekili Beach
  • Overall Conditions: Black Rock looks nice this morning. Some smaller waves rolling in. Stronger currents the further out you go so stay close to shore.
  • Webcam: Whaler Condos Sheraton
  • Surf: 1-2 ft.
  • Weather: Sunny, with a high near 84. Breezy, with an east northeast wind 14 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
  • Notes: Don’t snorkel directly under Black Rock, you don’t want to get jumped on. Turtles as usual. Don’t forget they are protected so give them space but enjoy. If you venture around Black Rock stay close to shore. Watch for surge along the rocks.

Olowalu Mile Marker 14

Black Rock, Kahekili-Airport Beach
  • Overall Conditions: Decent size surf in the area causing decreased visibilty in this area.
  • Weather: Sunny, with a high near 82. Breezy, with a northeast wind 15 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
  • Notes: Give the turtles some space and don’t get your car stuck in the sand.  There is a sand channel that goes through the reef across the highway from the Mile Marker 14 post that is the easiest place to swim out.
