Honolua Bay

Honolua Map
  • Overall Conditions: Still calmer winds. Inside the bay looks pretty good.
  • Surf: 2-3 ft.
  • Weather: Isolated showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Breezy, with an east wind 9 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Notes: Rocky shoreline sheltered bay. Use the Honolua Lookout before the bay to check conditions.  The water should be blue and you should be able to see the reef.  If the water looks “milky” or green the snorkeling will not be good.  If there are surfers on the north side of the bay the snorkeling conditions are probably poor or even dangerous.  If it has been raining the river empties brown, muddy water into the bay and you should definitely stay out of the water.

Ka'anapali Beach

Sheraton Black Rock, Airport-Kahekili Beach
  • Overall Conditions: Looks great this morning! Very calm winds and smaller surf.
  • Webcam: Whaler Condos Sheraton
  • Surf: 1-3 ft.
  • Weather: Sunny, with a high near 80. Calm wind.
  • Notes: Don’t snorkel directly under Black Rock, you don’t want to get jumped on. Turtles as usual. Don’t forget they are protected so give them space but enjoy. If you venture around Black Rock stay close to shore. Watch for surge along the rocks.

Olowalu Mile Marker 14

Black Rock, Kahekili-Airport Beach
  • Overall Conditions: Small waves from the south causing the water in this area to be less clear.
  • Weather: Sunny, with a high near 79. North northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.
  • Notes: Give the turtles some space and don’t get your car stuck in the sand.  There is a sand channel that goes through the reef across the highway from the Mile Marker 14 post that is the easiest place to swim out.
