Honolua Bay

Honolua Map
  • Overall Conditions: The runoff into Honolua Bay will be significant causing a lot of brown water.
  • Surf: 2-3ft.
  • Weather: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 8am, then showers likely. High near 85. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
  • Notes: Rocky shoreline sheltered bay. Use the Honolua Lookout before the bay to check conditions.  The water should be blue and you should be able to see the reef.  If the water looks “milky” or green the snorkeling will not be good.  If there are surfers on the north side of the bay the snorkeling conditions are probably poor or even dangerous.  If it has been raining the river empties brown, muddy water into the bay and you should definitely stay out of the water.
